Dear members of AFSCME Local 44 and all municipal employees of the City of Baltimore:
Exciting news! We are thrilled to announce that our contract has been ratified!
First and foremost, we want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everybody who came out and voted today in support of this new contract. Your participation and dedication have made this achievement possible!
Here are the highlights of AFSCME Council 3 and Local 44's Tentative Agreement with the City of Baltimore:
- Two Year Contract: The contract will cover fiscal years 2024 and 2025.
- 9% Total Wage Increase: We have secured a 4.5% across-the-board wage increase for FY 2024, retroactive to July 1, 2023, and an additional 4.5% increase for FY 2025, effective July 1, 2024.
- Wage Compression Study: In response to our insistence, the City has agreed to hire the consultant firm "Evergreen Solutions, LLC" to study wage compression within our Local 44 bargaining unit. We will be kept informed of the consultant's progress and recommendations, and the City has committed to bargaining with us before implementing any changes resulting from the study.
- Reclassification of Positions: As part of the compensation and classification study negotiated with the City, a new pay schedule will be included in the contract to reflect the reclassifications of positions in the DPW, Bureau of Water and Wastewater.
- Increased Union Access: The City has agreed to provide our Union with greater access to bargaining unit member information, strengthening our internal organizing efforts.
- Council Name Change: All references to AFSCME Council 67 shall be changed to AFSCME Council 3.
Once again, we want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who participated in the voting process today. Your support and engagement are crucial in shaping our collective future! Together, we will continue to strive for a better future for all municipal employees.
